Have You Heard About The Kindle?
Amazon started making these contraptions called Kindles a while back. They have several generations of them and a few different models. They are like a mini computer except they ONLY read files. So you can download books (which of course Amazon sells)
and take your book with you. You can mark where you left off and that sort of thing.
They are super light weight, but larger than trying to read something off your iphone or mp4 player! They only have to have a wireless connection (which means they aren’t great for the bus!)
But, the cool thing is that Amazon pays for the wireless connectivity.
This has been considered a good idea for textbooks.
Currently ebooks are only a small slice of the college textbook market although attitudes are changing as students discover ebooks are less bulky, less expensive and more earth friendly. But, you cant take notes or high light or let your friends borrow your book either.
The cool thing is that these kindles can hold hundreds or thousands of ebooks at a time.
